Greetings comrades!
Wow, that was a little too communist let me try that again.
Howdy guys!
Much better. So, loong time no chat so let me take some time to update on the goings on that have been going on in my life.
Okay so last weekend was parents weekend! I got to see the mother and all way right with the world. I was brought some much needed warmer duds and some homey comforts (snacks guys, lots of snacks, and also a yoga mat). It was lovely to see my madre once again. I have missed her oodles and she has been missing me so it was great for both of us. She took me out lunch and dinner and then lunch again, and I feel slightly ashamed to say I may have missed real food a bit more. It was also really weird to ride in a car again. I have not moved faster than the light jog I attempt during fencing practice in two months. Do you guys feel the same way about cars, or am I just crazy? Well anyway, I really do feel like I'm trapped in the purple bubble.
Speaking of fencing, we have lost our powerful and mighty leader. He had to take some time of off school to get reoriented which is totes cool, ya know you do you dude, but we are now leaderless. Or rather competent leaderless. I was just starting to get the hang of foil, but we shall trudge on with out him. I may not be able to fence foil, but I can tell others when they are fencing foil wrong and what they need to do to correct it. So I have been helping out in that respect. His absence also gives me the opportunity to organize a sabrist coup, so that is in the works. Wish me luck.
In my time away I have met God. His name is Jim and he works at the MSRC, which is W-speak for Math and Science Resource Center. Physics has become quite the struggle as of late, but with the help of God (Jim) I am plodding along quite nicely. I feel the need to bake him a thing, a little offering if you will. I don't know if I will give it to him or just place it in front of the shrine I have made in his honor. It is in my closet. It is made of my once tear-soaked problem sets that now bear the check marks of adequacy. I fear I have gone too far with this.
I have also been watching shows.
I have been wearing sweaters.
I have been missing you guys.
I have been planning my Halloween costume!
This is it. Do not worry it will be Jordan-ified.
Oh, and I have been busy trying to pick courses for the spring. It is too soon, too soon. I have no idea what I am doing, as per-usual, but I also have very little guidance. I am missing having all the lovely people back on the hilltop to discuss these things with. Should I continue with Physics, should I try out printmaking, what about computer science, music theory, the concert choir direct says I should take music theory, oh and what about the bazillion English courses I want to take? hmmmmm. It is the English courses man, they always get you. So attractive with all their words. Carefully crafted by these English teachers looking to suck you into the trap of having to read a hundreds of pages a night for the rest of your WHOLE LIFE. eeeep!
Okay well trick or treat dudes!
See you on the internet (but more preferably in person)

Confessions from my sick bed...
Hey.
I currently have a 101.6 fever so I'm a bit delirious. Imma keep this short and sweet. Had a prelim this week. Did well. Have a math prelim Thursday. Can't leave my room until 24 hours after my fever breaks. Fuck.
I'm good. Life's good. I am going to go to sleep now.

Life
Hello Friends,
I am terribly sorry that I missed last week and am late again this week (although I think I can say that I've still been more consistent than most :P). I have class in 41 minutes so I will have to keep this brief!
All the weeks pass by in a blur, so I can't even remember what I've been up to last week. This week there was a huge regatta right here on the C. River, and although it is apparently a very big deal here, I didn't really think it was too exciting. I guess watching people row is not my thing. However, our friend TS from our high school (aka Shiny) visited me on Saturday and we got to grab some lunch/dinner with two friends from my entryway. It was nice to see him, although I worry that I wasn't too great a host.
I think some of you got a Snapchat from me inquiring as to what "club attire" actually is, and the purpose of this was that I was planning on going to a party on a cruise Friday night. However, I figured that I did not want to get on the subway in a short dress and tall heels at late hours of the night, especially as it required a lot of walking, so I decided last minute not to go. I also figured that I would be surrounded by drunk people, and because I would be on a boat, I wouldn't be able to leave if I wanted to. I'm still not sure if I made the right decision, but I have heard mixed reviews about it, and besides I had a lot of fun going to Chinatown with my roommates and watching The Mazerunner. I haven't read the book in a while, so I didn't remember much to criticize the movie a lot, which I thought was a nice change. Overall, I would recommend that you all go see it if you haven't already. BTW, it has Dylan O'Brien and ahem the Korean guy in it was HOT ;) (so dibs lol).
Speaking of guys, I agree with Alessia's post a while back that most of my friends seem to be guys. I don't really know how it happened, but at some point I realized that other than my roommate and a girl in my math section, I mostly hang out with my guy friends. What am I doing wrong? Lol, there sure is less drama though :P
I really should go do my reading for my class that starts in 34 minutes now :) I hope everyone has a good week and that you are successful in all your endeavors.
Love always,
Juliet :)

hey hey hey!!!
Howdy!
Hey guys hey it is your ol' buddy ol' pal Jordan! I am finally feeling like your old buddy Jordan. I feel renewed and refreshed and ready to take on my small part of the world. The weather has been getting warmer surprisingly and my mother is coming to visit me soon!
So like I said in my last post this past weekend was reading period so I only had a three day week. It was literally the most relaxing four days I have ever had. I did nothing, I did fun things, I did some work to get ahead. I was great! One day I even got to sleep in until 9:30! Can you believe it... I can't. Also the roommate was gone the whole four day so I got to have a dingle (I am not weird, its a double being lived in by only one person)! It was just really great. Like really.
While relaxing I also had time to contemplate what winter study course I want to take. If you are not familiar with the idea of winter study it is a glorious time of the school year existing between the fall and spring semester. It lasts the whole month of January and during this time you take one, only one class. The classes are all really fun though. So fun that I am having trouble deciding what to take. So far I have it narrowed down to Printmaking, Introduction to Animal Tracking, Stained Glass Tiling , and a course called Listening to Stranger, which is basically the moth as a class. Any suggestions guys?
Today, I had a most wonderful lunch. One of the girls from the ASL club, one who I went to Gallaudet with, and I had lunch together. We signed the whole time and it was great. My signing was pretty bad, but I still understand everything so that is good. I hope we can make this a regular thing.
I have just received word that another sabreist is joining the fencing team.
I am contemplating joining an a capella group.
I am missing you all bunches.

Chocolate!
Howdy,
I went apple picking this weekend with one of my entry mates. Every Sunday night a pair of us have to provide snacks for our entry meeting. This week I was up. SO I was going to go to Stop and Shop to get all the Oreo products they have, but the shuttle never came.
"Oh what ever will I do!?!?," she thought.
Remembering technology exists she e-mails her companion, who happens to be going apple picking the very same afternoon. In a sudden stroke of luck the bus going to the apple orchard happened to be hit by a van (No one injured, just a window shattered, on the van, the bus was stopped, how it happened I do not know) delaying its departure allow suffice time for young Jordan to change into more appropriate an apparel and talk her way on to the bus.
So yeah I picked some apples and I got to know my entry mate quite well on the way back. It was interesting. People are interesting. Interesting.
So this Tuesday I went to a silent dinner held by the WC Sign Language Club. It was really great. The club is really looking to be a major force on campus. We are teaming up with acapella groups and the slam poetry club. We are hoping to make a push towards having ASL offered as a language at the college. It's great that the club is so active and I'm so excited to have people to sign with. Also it turns out one of the girls in the club and I went to Gallaudet together! ~~Connections~~
Wednesday I had a Calc exam. Yeah, it was an exam.
Thursday I totally had time to post this and I am super bummed I didn't. It just slipped my mind.
Today is Friday and I have made the conscious decision to stay in and watch shows and crochet and go to bed early, maybe. This weekend is reading period so we have off Monday and Tuesday. Lots of people go hope so it is going to be pretty quite on campus, most importantly it will be quiet in my room because the roommate is away! So this weekend is set up to be pretty great lost of free time to video chat with you lovely gals.
Peace, Love and Puppies,
Jordan

Gatsby Believed...
Hello darlings!!! I know it has been a while and I am sooo sorry for that but I have been sooo preoccupied with work and life that I could never find the time to just take a deep breath and say hi.
Continuing on that point I have my first midterm this week. Thankfully only my Religion class is giving me one, whereas the rest of my classes just assign final papers near the end of the semester.
I got a reprieve this weekend though, when two fraternities threw a Gatsby themed party at the club on Saturday. I borrowed some clothes from my friend AS across the hall, threw on my stripper heels and whoa, guys, my butt....looked...amazing.
In fact everyone at the party was wearing tight dresses, because this was the first party where "formal wear" (aka tight party dresses and heels) was encouraged. That, plus the copious amounts of alcohol that people were consuming given the free champagne, led to some SCANDALOUS scenes on the dance floor. Let's just say that I kept seeing guys' hands going up places that should not be exposed to the public eyes...and I saw that scene over and over and over, AND I'M NOT OLD ENOUGH TO WATCH PORN!
Despite that stuff, the night was really fun. My friend RK kept getting asked to dance, which made me really happy for her. I was asked to dance by this Saudi Arabian student, who doesn't take classes here but he lives on campus with a group that is learning English in order to pass the TOFL. He was so sweet because we didn't grind, he just did this awesome robot move and spun me around a couple times. He even thanked me after!! Which is the complete opposite of this other guy who just grabbed me and jammed his hip bone into my butt and didn't even ask! Gurls I pushed him away so fast that I fell onto someone else. I didn't even say anything, I just gave him a look and shook my finger. He seemed shocked that I didn't want to dance with him, questioning my "no", but he left me alone. His cute friend, who I wanted to ask me to dance, asked my two friends to dance, one after the other, while I glanced over in complete jealousy. But it's all whatever now.
RK got this guys number, and they've been texting since Sunday, which again, makes me really happy for her. And for some reason they think I am some guru with experience with guys, so they come to me for divine advice. I do what I can and I guess it's working so far..??
More updates...
Haven't talked to HIM since Saturday, when we were snapchatting while he was drunk.
For those who haven't heard the whole story since the kiss:
I texted him asking what was up and that I wanted to know why he kissed me since not wanting to before...he said that he did it because our relationship is stronger now so we can handle it, because in high school he wouldn't have been able to deal with the jerks. So we talked on the phone later, and he told me he liked me...and that I didn't have to get back to him right away but that we could find a way to make it work. After that he didn't talk to me for a weekend, after which he texted me saying that he had been too busy with parents weekend and school to send me a message. After that, our conversations just got choppier, until we didn't text but snapchat, and now nothing but silence.
This just means that I have to give up now, before I take a big step back and end up getting hurt again.
On top of that the drama between the people in the corner of my hall (basically my main group of friends) is getting ridiculous. My roommate is starting to upset me, because even though I have told her TWICE to come DIRECTLY TO ME if she needs anything from me (like using my printer or kicking me out of my room so she can cuddle with her GF) she still keeps sending her GF to do all the talking. On top of that, her GF and her constant complaining and canoodling is starting to get on everyone else's nerves, which leads to more complaining. And I try to get away from it, but lately its been so hard to make new friends because at this point everyone has settled into their own cliques. Maybe I just have to try harder.
This weekend was a stress reliever from everything though, it was really fun and nice to be asked to dance for a change (since no one usually wants to dance with me).
Kyla: I hope that your prelims go well
Juliet: Haters gonna hate, but don't let it get to you. You're a sabrest from the Bronx, you can deal with whatever comes at you. Apparently where I am is the 7th dangerous town in the state..and I haven't died yet :)
Jordan: Chocolate?
I miss you all!
Lovely ladies I bid adieu,
MC

Late again
Hi Friends,
I'm sorry again for the late post. I haven't really done anything this weekend but it has flown by. I hope all your weeks have gone well! I had a math midterm last Tuesday, which I did surprisingly well on, and I had a paper due on Friday, which could have gone better (aka I could have started earlier than the night before it was due and not pulled an all-nighter). But all is well, I'm all about the new experiences (well at least certain new experiences).
Our friend Y from WC (hint: a year above us and goes to an all-women's college) came to visit me on Saturday, we had really good food and it was really nice to hang out with a familiar face. Seeing her really made me miss you guys, and it was nice to v-chat with you, Kyla and Jordan, but we really should do a group v-chat very soon!
I still am being very unproductive, and I feel like with the few extracurriculars I'm involved in I should be getting more done, but I'm not, and I feel insufficient. I feel like I should be joining other extracurriculars too, but that also hasn't been happening. One of my clubs goes every Sunday to a nursing home to visit Alzheimer's patients, and yesterday was my first official visit. We are each paired off with a "buddy" of our choosing, and I was a little nervous because I arbitrarily chose one (there was no information on them provided to us). I got to meet my buddy for all of two minutes because she complained of back pain and said that she had to lie down. So instead, I joined some other residents in playing bingo, which was pretty fun. I hope next week goes a little better.
On Friday I was supposed to go with one of my other clubs to another nursing home so that the residents could spend some time with our proctors' dogs, but because I had to finish this paper, I couldn't go and I felt really bad. Ugh, why am I so bad with commitments?
I'm sorry for the choppy, disjointed sentences, I'm a little sleep deprived. On a funner (?) note, I'm not sure if you heard but HU had another security threat this weekend. Apparently hundreds of people got emails saying that they would be shot on Saturday afternoon by a person who apparently lived in Boston and judging from the colorful language of the email, hated our school. Turns out to be a false alarm, nothing actually went down, and the email was said to have been sent from abroad, but it was still very scary. When I wasn't a student here, hearing about things like this seemed very surreal, almost like a joke, but now that I'm here, it's all too real. To add on top of that, last week we also received an email that there had been break-ins in several freshmen dorms. Yay, everyone's out to get us.
I must go do some work now if I want to get some sleep, so that's it for now. I hope your prelims went well Kyla, and I hope you are all safe on your respective campuses. Let's v-chat soon!!
Lots of Love,
Juliet

No More No More
Guys, I know, I have been a bad egg, a very bad egg. In fact, I give you permission to throw eggs at me. I have been busy, and have had a lot going on, but I am not going to get into it. I have noticed I have done a lot of complaining lately, so in an effort to make things better I want to focus more on the positives.
Okay, so I am still doing fencing even though it is foil and it is super awkward. The good news is I am getting better! At first I felt terrible, like I used to be a pretty okay fencer, and I had been reduced to this horrible feeble infantile state of fencing. Like I said things are getting better.
Overheard on the Strip:
"Jordan, your footwork on the attack is really beautiful."
"Wow, you're picking up the blade-work really quickly."
"You are definitely starting to look like a Foilist."
I also found someone on the team who understands my Pizza John shirt.
Positive:
Last weekend the concert choir went on a retreat and I learned to do this....kind of...
Positive:
I went to a party and it wasn't terrible. I wasn't good, but it wasn't terrible and that is a start.
Positive:
I went and saw a play last night for my physics class. It is called Copenhagen and i focuses on the relationship between Neils Bohr and Werner Heisenberg, both of whom played large roles in developing atomic theory and the atomic bomb. Science aside, it was just like a really great play. I feel like I'm just not describing it well. I dunno, check it out dudes.
Positive:
Yesterday was Mountain Day! So, classes were canceled (giving me a desperately needed break), and we go to go out into into nature and eat apple cider donuts and fresh apple cider. Guys, I went on a three mile hike.Up a mountain (it was actually vertical at some points). And Nature didn't eat me. I am not the penguin of the forest; I am the penguin of the mountain. HEAR ME ROAR! um yeah the hike down was another story, but like I said, positives!
I have been missing you guys bunches and bunches. A group Skype is definitely in order. I keep having moments where I think oh remember this time and I want to share it, but wait none of these people were there. I like while on the mountain , I don't remember in what context, I said something about a "three part take down" and no one laughed and I was sad. It is things like that that make me miss you guys. It is like there is this whole secret history that nobody here knows.
Hope all is rainbows and Donuts

Love Love
Hi girls,
I need to make this short and sweet, but I wanted to write since I haven't in a while. I've been so incredibly busy. People are right, CU is a challenge. These past weeks have been prelim weeks, or rather mini-midterms or massive unit tests worth 1/4 of your grade. I had bio earlier this week, which I did well on, but am going to argue for more points, and I also had calc, lets not talk about that....The one thing that I don't really like about it here is the grading. It's not about how well you do, it's about how much better you are than everyone else. So the mean of my bio prelim was a 71, ( It was a 38 question test so that means they got 10 wrong) so my professor curves that to a B. I got a 82 (which I am going to argue because his data makes no sense....but that's another story) so I'm 11 points above the mean, so I get curved to like a B plus. You would think I would be happy. But no...people drop the course, so your never safe from the mean increasing and you getting screwed over. So the method is, as my biology professor says "do better than everyone else so your grade won't be affected". So basically even if you do well the first test, your prelim score can change by the end of semester due to people who drop the course, or drop their first prelim (that's a whole other story). I don't like the idea of my grade changing, not based on my own efforts, but based off of everyone else. I'd like to keep my 82 and improve (well...it's not an 82 I'm going to argue...) and I don't like the idea of my grade fluctuating throughout the semester because it is beyond my control. And then on top of it, every intro bio class has a fixed mean of a B-, so yeah....It's very frustrating, I don't like all the competition. But despite my whining, I am IN LOVE with my biology class.
I am so sorry for complianing about grades. But this is literally been going on for the past 2 weeks and I'm freaking out about the end of the semester.
I'm taking a lot of intro courses this semester so nothing else really sparks my fancy... I am going to pick up a global health minor next semester which should be awesome.
So I quit club field hockey. That lasted long right? I was getting back to my dorm room at 10 pm nearly every night and staying up until 2 getting work done. No thanks. I am in a club called globe med which is partnered with an organization in Guatemala and promotes adequate health care down there. Last year they had a water-filter project, this year we're fundraising for stoves for large families and water filters. I am also a part of the pep band.
I love my hallmates. At first I felt a little left out because they all seemed so close, but now we're all buddy buddy with each other. Last week we watched the Godfather Part 1 (well they watched part 2 but I had to study). I must say it is a good movie. Today I am going with a few of them to this thing called Apple Fest downtown. It is basically a festival for apples. My roommate isn't coming though. She's going with the guys on our floor to see Boyhood, I want to see it too. We get along she and I, I don't think we'll ever be close, she seems to prefer hanging out with guys more than girls. Whatever, we're friendly and all that matters is that she isn't a pain in the butt, which she's not. I like her.
Oh, so my hallmates and I as of now are being the Spice Girls for Halloween. I am going to be Baby Spice. Haha. The idea was inspired by my original idea to be Sabrina the Teenage Witch, or just someone from the 1990's. Its the best decade. Duh.
What are you guys going to be for halloween?
How are you guys doing? I really miss you. We should all have a massive-skype conversation one of these days I've talked to most of you but it would be great to all get to catch up some.
Uh. On a funnier note, or rather me complaining again. I have decided that I don't like having lab partners. I MISS YOU JULIET YOU WERE THE BEST LAB PARTNER I EVER HAD! TAKE ME BACK.
okay.
I've run out of things to say.
Oh
I've started saying bae.
pls. help.
