Hello Friends,
I was walking to class one morning this week and was startled to discover that the leaves have started changing color. I have been so engrossed in my own bubble that I didn't even notice that fall is here! It was a beautiful day today, and despite the fact that the end of September means that midterms and first major assignments are rolling around, I took some time to sit outside and do some pleasure reading (it was amazing, I highly recommend you all do this before it is too late!)
As I am typing this, I am also trying to plank, and my efforts are unsurprisingly unsuccessful as I am horribly out of shape, so please excuse me if I don't sense as it is most likely due to a lack of blood flow to my brain. Yay exercise.
Life this week has been pretty uneventful other than the fact that I am consistently going to bed past 3 and waking up (or trying to wake up) at 9 (but being unable to get out of bed until around 9:40). I've also been eating a lot late at night, which is why I am trying to work out at 11:40 at night. I'm still struggling with the procrastination issue, and talking to friends is so much more fun, and so I often don't finish work, which I thought I could catch up on during the weekends but thus far have been quite unsuccessful (anyone notice a trend?) Math p-sets are especially taking me a long time, I probably would be hysterical at this point if it weren't for my TA's office hours. I love him to pieces <3
I'm also getting involved in community service! I'm part of a program that brings dogs to nursing homes to spend time with the residents, and my first trip was yesterday. It was a lot of fun, and while it made me miss my dogs like crazy, it was therapeutic for me to spend time with the dogs. I think the dogs are a nice way to help more reluctant residents warm up to us and have conversations with us. Although it was pretty sad to be in such a dreary and tired environment. Tomorrow I am getting up bright and early at 8:15 to go to another nursing home to spend time with Alzheimer's patients, and apparently we are going to an Alzheimer's walk before that. I'm not sure I'll be able to wake up, so wish me luck guys!
Finally, our friend GC came to visit me yesterday with her family! It was really nice to see her, I missed her a lot and her siblings are adorable :) We had Korean food (which I was actually starting to crave), and I showed her my room (not sure if I'm allowed to do that, but oh well). I'm sad she had to leave so soon, but I think she liked it, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
I'm sorry this is pretty short, but my week was pretty uneventful, and I do have a lot of work to catch up on (and maybe I can squeeze in some exercise).
Love you bunches! Hope you all are doing well and avoiding getting sick! (although Jordan you have already been plagued, sorry)

"What a slut time is, she screws everyone"
Yes, I was waiting for the opportunity to use that quotation :)
How is everyone? I feel like I haven't talked to anyone, and I'm really sorry! Although the general vibe I seem to be getting from everyone is that they are incredibly busy. Hang in there gals!
Another week has flown by, and I really can't remember what I've been doing. I seem to be just be bumming around and doing some work most days. Also, I've become hooked on another K-drama, so there's that distraction...I had my first math test and biochem quiz, and while they went alright, I have a whole lot of work due tomorrow and Wednesday which I haven't started...So I totally get what you mean Jordan, once you reach one peak there is an even larger one waiting on the other side.
In other news, people are rather funny when they are drunk, and it's been quite interesting interacting with them while they are severely intoxicated. My own social life is sadly lacking as I do not attend parties. There have been ample opportunities, but I don't really feel like going. Sure, I don't have to drink , but because I don't really enjoy dancing and everyone around me will be pretty far gone, I don't think it will be much fun for me. And my friends that don't drink don't really like parties. So I'm awkwardly stuck in the middle. Which should motivate me to deal with my mountain of work situation, but...
However, I have gotten closer to some of my friends, and I really enjoy hanging out with them. I realized that I also really like the people in my entryway, I think we are a diverse yet pretty cohesive group. Although I still rarely see the one roommate who brought a guy home last night while another roommate and I were doing homework...awkward...
Finally, I went to my first football game on Friday night for the first football game of the season, which was bitterly cold but also lots of fun (we also crushed the other team 41-18) and I kinda learned the rules of football lol. Yesterday I went to a fundraising event for cancer research, and I got to see National/World/Olympic champions figure skate, including JEREMY ABBOTT and JOHNNY WEIR!!!!! I was so excited and it was also very beautiful (also a girl in my grade is a competitve figure skater and she is amazing!!), and I got to see them UP CLOSE! Sadly, I had to get back so I didn't get to actually meet them but they skated right past me *SWOON*
That's it for now, I love you all bunches, keep in touch!!
Love Always,
Juliet

I reach the third floor then I realize I still have one more to go
Hey guys, guess what?
I am not sick!!!!
Hey guys, guess what?
The mountains (haha mountains) of work have descended upon me.
I think, maybe, just maybe, I may have signed up for too many things. My activities as of now include: concert choir, fencing, creative wring club, sign language club, doing well in school, and being a person. Oh, and the new season of the Mindy Project just started so there is that too.
I finally know how all of you who have had lots of work feel. Ugh it is hard, it is college, and the work feels like it is never going to end. Its is like as soon as I am finishing something, there is just one more thing that need to be done. One more meeting, rehearsal, reading, problem set, etc. It is just an ever compounding cycle and I just don't know what I'm going to do.
I don't know if you guys know this, but I live on the fourth floor of my dorm, it is the top floor (which we lovingly call the penthouse). There are two ways up, the stairs or the elevator. To take the stairs is to walk up 8 flights, and reach you destination gasping for air. To take the elevator you must walk through someone else's common room and admit defeat, taking the elevator to the third floor, and then walk up only 2 flights (the elevator only goes the the third floor, it is weird). My ego is too big/ I'm still trying to make friends and I don't want them to think I am weak, so, I take the stairs. Things go well and I think I am just about to come to the top when I realize I have only just reached the third floor, and I still have 2 whole flights of stairs to go. This is what my life feels like currently an ever growing set of stairs. I think I have reached the top, but wait...and it makes me worried. I worry it will eventually get to be too much, and I will fall behind, and I will fail, and have no friends, and I will be a college drop out, and not the cool kind.
Sorry to be so rant-y it's just been a long, hard week, and I know it is only just the beginning.
In other news, our dear friend and tennis player came to the ol' W last weekend for a meet, so I got to see a friendly face. It was super nice to see her, even if we didn't really get a chance to talk. It is nice to know someone you know and who knows you, like in a real substantial way, is close by. I really needed it too, she couldn't have come at a better time.
This weekend I have made plans to eat food at some point with a lovely English teacher and W student-parent, so I have that to look forward to.
Another homey/comforty thingy has been found in one of my fencing team mates. He went to one of the schools in our league! The Mark Twain guy was his coach! We love Mark Twain! It is nice being around someone who has a similar background and around someone with whom I can complain about Masters with. It is weird to think I was probably in the same room with this guy at some point and never knew it, and somehow we have managed to be at the same school, fencing together. Also speaking of fencing, they don't have any sabre peeps. Or at least they haven't been coming to practice. So I have been learning foil. Lets just say it is ...different. I used to think hey, ya know I am not a terrible fencer. It is a sport I can claim I can do, like actually do. Yeah... I used to say that.
Alright gals, hope your weeks are swell and no one makes you fence foil!
Best Wishes,
Jordan

Grumble, grumble, grumble
Hello my friends,
I am so terribly sorry that I didn't post last week and this post in late. I am a horrible person, I know. I hope you all will eventually forgive me.
The past week has been so hectic and exhausting that everything is a blur. Last Saturday (my posting day) I auditioned for 4 a cappella groups. I really wanted to do a cappella at college (cliche, I know, but I really like it) and I thought I would try out. Surprisingly, they liked me and invited me back for callbacks. Now, a cappella auditions here at HU have been likened to rushing (like going Greek rushing) and so I knew it was going to be intense, but I had no idea HOW intense it was going to be. There are 3 rounds of callbacks, and even if you make it to the final round of callbacks there is no guarantee that a group will take you. Which is exactly what happened to me. I got final callbacks from 2 of my 4 groups, and I couldn't help but get my hopes up because night after night of going from audition to audition from 8pm to 12am and the most singing I have ever done in my life, I didn't make it into a group.
Now, I really do understand how difficult it must have been for the groups, since there are SO many talented people. SO MANY of them were so much more talented than I was, and it was an amazing experience just listening to them sing. But I am ashamed to say that I felt like I was better than some of the others who got accepted into the groups, and I feel like I am a terrible person for thinking so. Did I get swept up in the competitive atmosphere or is that my true nature? In some weird, twisted way I think I kind of see why I'm at the college I am at; after all isn't competitiveness one of the things we're known for?
In other news, I finally have officially matriculated! Woohoo! I'm taking BC Calculus, Introductory Biochemistry, Intermediate Chinese, and Introductory History of Science (I won't disclose the actual names of the courses because I think I'll give too much away, although the previous paragraph may have already done so). I like my classes although I am being buried in homework, especially because I had callbacks all throughout last week. I haven't actually started my homework yet, which is a problem since I have two tests on Tuesday...hmm...
In terms of social life, I am not sure where I stand. I am close to my roommates and the people in my entryway, but outside of that I don't know too many others. I never realized how large my class is, and each one of them is so smart and talented... I'm overwhelmed and intimidated. I haven't joined extracurriculars other than showing some interest in a few community service organizations (I was really hoping for a cappella and then hoping to fill in my schedule afterwards) so I feel like I'm behind in the game, so I'm kind of anxious. It's only the second week though, so hopefully it gets better.
I'm sorry for complaining so much, but it feel really nice to vent. I miss you all, and we really should find a time to v-chat! I want to see your lovely faces.
Love always,
Juliet

Some Ghosts Don't Stay Buried
Hello darlings,
I hope all is going well (or in Jordan's case, feeling better). This week has been full of drama, but I feel like soon it will come to a close as people are FINALLY talking to each other rather than behind each other's backs. In short, I miss you guys and your funny sassiness, where we knew that we could tell each other everything if we felt the need.
Tonight at the club, they're having something called a 555 party. It sounds shady but a couple of my friends are going and I kind of feel like dancing the night away. At this point I don't even care about the fact that I might be creeped out by several guys, but I guess I'll see when I get there. I'm also going to a Disney club meeting (aka I'm going to watch "Treasure Planet" YAY!)
Now to the main story that my blog posts usually surround:
We kissed again guys. Me and HIM kissed...again. And I liked it. Again.
Back story? The poetry slam team at my school went to HIS school for an Open Mic Night and Guest Poet. He met us there, hugged me, introduced me to his friends. I stole his hat...
I was sitting next to my friend, and after she performed we went to the back to get pizza. HE came up to us and asked for my advice in picking a poem to read. So we went to this billiard room that was attached to the other room and I helped him pick a poem. Instead of going back to his friends however, he stayed in the room with me (where we could watch the slam) until one of the workers put extra chairs in the back that we sat in. He got water for me and pizza for myself, and after he was done he put his arm around me.
The guest speaker wasn't that great, so HE asked me if I wanted to go outside, and since it was really hot inside I agreed. There was a courtyard outside with this low wall that we sat on. We talked for a bit, about our colleges and how we were. When I mentioned my stalker he asked if the stalker was there, because if he was HE would have hurt him. And then he kissed my forehead (*butterflues*)
After a bit of talking my friend texted me to say that we were about to leave, which I told HIM.
And that's when he kissed me.
I went with it, then pulled away. "Are you drunk or high?". "No."
Kissing.
"Why now?" "Cuz you're about to leave"
Kiss.
"You taste like pizza" "Shut up"
Kiss. Kiss. Kiss.
"Oh crap the OA that wants me just made eye-contact with me that was so awkward"
Me: "Oh so you're using me? I should slap you"
"No, no I wasn't"
Kiss.
Then my friend texted me telling me that she was lonely so I left. And right before I left I said "F*** you".
The good thing is that he called me a little while after and we talked for a bit like normal friends. But I'm still confused.
But I liked it.
I don't know things anymore.
Love you though! Kisses and hugs,
Marisa

Continued thoughts from the sick bed
Dudes I am sorry this is late, but I figured I since I am not the only one and because I am sick again, I could have a pass and be a day late.
"Sick again!" you say.
Why, yes, dear friends I am sick again. I got over my cold and had like a solid 32 hours of healthiness, but now I am sick again. With a stomach bug (potentially food poisoning). I feel yucky and I don't want to go anywhere or do anything, but the show must go as they say.
Aside from experiencing waves of nausea and stomach pain and gong to class or the health center I have not been doing too much. This week was the first full week of classes, so that was interesting. I think I am happy with all my classes. I was a bit worried about math because I'm in a course for people who have already taken BC calculus, but I think I can manage, it will be my only truly hard course this semester. Physics is good, English is good, well, a little slow, but good (Hackley prepared us so well for English. I'm definitely going to rock this class). Drawing is pretty chill; it is weird having homework in it though, so that is something I have to get used to. So far work is not crazy bananas too much, but I'm sure it will get there eventually (I'm so sorry you are drowning in reading Kyla, send some to me, I can read it).
Speaking of work, I have started working, like working at a job, like my first real job. I work at the library services desk of our science library, making cash money yo! But yeah, so far so good with the job, a lot of orientationing. The people I work with are nice, quiet, but nice. Also I get to do school work on the job so that is a plus. It is where I will do all of my major reading assignments.
In other news, I have joined the fencing team. Who would have thunk? Me, on a college fencing team. The real reason I am taking it is that none of the other PE classes fit into my schedule, so fencing it is. I had my first practice Wednesday, and the team seems nice. It is really laid back and we have a lot of beginners, so we are spending a lot of time acclimating them. Unfortunately, my legs are still sore from practice Wednesday, apparently doing nothing all summer is bad for your fencing muscles.
I also have auditioned for and been accepted in to the concert choir. It was nerve racking, but I think it will be worth it in the end. I decided against a capella, too scary, too intense.
I am also in the creative writing club. Wow I am doing a lot of stuff. We had our first meeting last night, and it seem to be just a group of people looking to support each other in their writing. They seem cool and also super talented, and I can't wait for our first writing retreat ( we get to go into the woods and Walden pond it up!).
Socially...ummm not doing so hot. I mean I have been like a leper being sick and all. I have been trying to be friendly...,but no one has really reciprocated (Where are the people who I am supposed to be friends with hiding?). I have been a little lonely. I dunno, I guess I will have to get used to it. I have enough things to keep me busy, so I guess friends can wait?
Wishing you all happiness, butterflies, and unicorns,
Jordan :)

Wishing you all happiness, butterflies, and unicorns,
Jordan :)

Ole McDonald Had a Farm
Hello dearies,
I love you all so much its ridiculous, but I know that you guys are killing it at your respective colleges.
I washed clothes at college for the first time yesterday, and it was actually not that bad. Maybe that's because I've washed clothes before, but my dad was insistent that I wasn't going to know what to do. The worst part was probably the fact that the laundry room is in the guy's hallway, and right next to the bathrooms. Which wouldn't be a big deal...except for the fact that I have a penchant for walking down at the same moment that most of the guys decide to go take a shower. And they don't wear robes....they kinda just walk in their towels....that they don't even really tie properly. So yeah....that's fun. But honestly, the best part was when this guy came in to put his laundry in the washing machine and I was moving mine from the washer to the dryer, and all my underwear kept falling on the floor in plain sight. At that moment, I was extremely thankful for my lack of "sexy" under clothing.
Despite those lacking articles of clothing, I seem to attract a lot of attention. Last night I went to a foam party at the club, and, as my title hints, we met a lot of pigs. My stalker was there, staring at me and making me extremely uncomfortable for most of the time, along with this group of Middle Eastern guys that kept surrounding and then bumping into us. By the end of the night it was obvious that they just wanted to find a girl to grind with, and due to our beautiful dancing, they figured that we were the best girls for the job. But we didn't want to grind with them, which was a difficult concept for them to understand I guess, until they found new girls to grind with (but this one guy kept looking at us while grinding with another girl...but uhh sweetie...NO). My guy-friend got drunk and was trying to grind with the rest of us (although you could tell that he was trying to get with this one particular girl). My other friend got uncomfortable because people kept trying to touch her, and I was uncomfortable because of my stalker, so we left early. After that there was a whole bunch of ambulances because people got alcohol poisoning...so that was fun.
But I had a hilarious encounter on Friday:
A whole bunch of people got drunk in the neighboring room, one of which is my guy-friend's roommate (MB). My roommate (AM) and I were walking back from another room, and MB popped out with this guy, CW. We were talking and MB told CW that he looked like Superman in his shirt, to which I agreed because he had the hair and glasses to match. So CW looked me dead in the eyes, took off his glasses and started to wiggle his eyebrows. MB said, "You're not the guy she wants" to which I replied, "Yeah, I'm more of a Captain America kind of girl". So CW puts his hand on my shoulder and says, "I can be anybody you want me to be". And I DIED.
So yeah, not all society is bad.
I miss you gurlies and I hope you're all having fun.

Here goes.
Hi my lovelies,
I'm sorry I haven't posted on my given day. I'M SO BUSY. I understand why people say CU may be easier to get into, but one of the harder to stay in, MY CLASSES ARE SO FUCKING HARD. I just finished my 2nd week of classes and already I've had more than 120 pages of Chem to read plus other classes, gone to office hours for chem three times etc. I'm so excited to be in class, but a bit worried about chem. It's gonna be a struggle, but at least there are 799 freshman and sophomores who are also struggling too.
MY CLASSES ARE LIKE THE SIZE OF HACKLEY. Its crazy to think that my chem section is bigger than our high school. It gets so crowded that sometimes its standing room only. But even though our classes are so big, I see the same people all the time. Although, I've only seen ZR twice, I've seen a few people I knew from previous schools here a lot (awks).
I JOINED CLUB FIELD HOCKEY AND I LOVE IT. I was kind of indecisive about whether or not to join since I haven't played in two years but its totally okay, there are people who were on allstar teams on the the team and people who have never played. I even got to switch positions ( I never scored anyway as a forward, so I switched to D. which is nice, I like it more).
Socially its still a struggle. I'm not a very outgoing person, but it's been getting better meeting people in classes and stuff. I might go out tonight with my roommate (we'll see how that goes) which should be fun. I guess. We'll see. I spend last night watching Scandal with a girl from Field Hockey, which was nice, although my whole floor went out, I was invited but I HATE walking into college town ( its about 2 miles from my dorm down hill, then 2 miles back up hill...nah). But my hallmate GK told me to live a little, so maybe.
But in other news, my hallmates are now talking to each other!! It's great, because I think what made me so unhappy the first week was that no one was talking to each other. Now they never shut up. They like t pull pranks as well. Someone keeps leaving bananas outside my RA's dorm room as well as sticking things on this one guy AE's door. Examples include: writing "is a butt"next to his name, sticking condoms on the door and writing "be safe when you do the no-no" , and taping a very large poster of JFK with an electric candle underneath.
Its weird.
I really like CU, except for calc, because my professor like doesn't speak english and wears very distracting nike track suits in 90 degree weather.
kk.
dont be basic.
love you guys forever.

Thoughts From My Sick Bed
As you may have guessed from the title of this post, I am sick :( Now let you tell you this, being sick in college is super sucky. *When you are sick in college you still have stuff to do and you still have to go places. Today is the first day of classes and I still have to go to them and I still have to sign up for clubs and gym and try to be social and to make friends. There is no one to take care of you and you can never just be alone and to get to the health center you have to shuffle over two miles of hills. I'm feeling yucky and I just want to go home guys, so any good vibes you could send my way would be greatly appreciated today.
Being sick was not the only thing I did this week. This week we went on our orientation trips! I did one called where am I and we got to explore our surrounding area. I eat dinner with a family in town, I went to a garlic festival (white chocolate cherry garlic fudge is pretty good), I was a farmer, I went to the lake, I ate a Vermonster (20 scoops of ice cream, 4 bananas, 4 ladles of hot fudge, 3 chocolate chip cookies, 1 chocolate fudge brownie, 10 scoops of walnuts, 2 scoops each of 4 toppings of your choice, and whipped cream), ate some decent pizza while looking at a most beautiful view of the purple mountains, and to end it all I went to a barn party where I danced it up to some jazz from the 20's (my finger dance was super appropriate). The trip was really great and I kind of wish the people in my orientation trip were my dorm mates. I got to be on the path to friendship with some of them, and I haven't really reached that with anyone in my dorm.
This week has also been full of parties, which have been debaucherous to say the least. I took a walk to the basement to see what was going on, and I took one look and immediately went back upstairs to the safety of my room. My roommate on the other hand has been on the prowl for parties, coming back to the dorm until two in the morning, every night. I dunno no judgement, but hey it would have been nice if that was a question on the roommate questionnaire.
This week was also the academic expo. So apparently now I am going to be an engineer. Some how I ended up at the pre-engineering meeting and now I am on that track, who would have thunk. I mean I am still considering a major in studio art or English, and I just had my first art class today, but I am definitely looking into physics more seriously. Yeah, so developments.
Today is the club fair, so I'm going attempt to drag myself out of my bed for that. I am thinking of joining the fencing team, especially since no gym classes fit in my schedule. I out some other things, the creative writing club, maybe some a capella, I dunno.
Wishing you the best, specifically, the opposite of this.
Sincerely,
Jordan
